- Getting shortlisted-The Army conducts a thorough review of the applications, including the establishment of a minimum score (cut-off) for each engineering discipline based on semester performance. Indian Army SSC Tech Training 2024
Candidates who are selected will undergo training at the Officers Training Academy in Chennai, based on their position in the final order of merit within their respective engineering streams. This placement is subject to the number of available vacancies and compliance with all eligibility criteria.

Candidates who marry after the application date but before induction for training, even if successful at the Service Selection Board interview and medical examination, will have their candidature canceled and will not be inducted for training.
The training at the Officers Training Academy is covered by government expenses. Upon successful completion of the Pre-Commission training, candidates will be awarded a ‘Post Graduate Diploma in Defence Management and Strategic Studies’ by the University of Madras.
Indian Army SSC Tech Merit List
While successfully navigating the SSB interview is pivotal, it doesn’t mark the final stage of your journey. The determination of your ultimate position follows this process:
Merit List: Your performance in the SSB interview contributes to your rank on a merit list.
Tiebreakers: In the case of tied scores, the factor of age comes into play, with older candidates securing higher ranks. If the age is also identical, your qualifying exam score becomes the decisive factor.
Extracurriculars Excluded: Your additional accomplishments or degrees do not influence your ranking.
Selection and Training: Only candidates within the specified vacancy limit, medically fit, and appearing on the merit list will be selected for training at OTA, Chennai.
Upon selection, candidates will be granted Short Service Commission on probation in the rank of Lieutenant, starting from the course commencement date or the reporting date at Officers Training Academy (OTA), Chennai, Tamil Nadu, whichever is later. During the training period, candidates will receive full pay and allowances applicable to the rank of Lieutenant. Pay and allowances will be disbursed upon the successful completion of training.
After the successful conclusion of Pre-Commission training at OTA, officers will be officially confirmed in the Short Service Commission (Technical) and hold the rank of Lieutenant.
Engineering Graduates of Short Service Commission (Technical) in the rank of Lieutenant will be granted one year of ante-date seniority from the commission date.
However, widows of Defence Personnel selected for SSCW (NT) entry will receive Short Service Commission in the rank of Lieutenant without any ante-date seniority entitlement.
